Obituary for James Edward "Ed" Thompson

James Edward “Ed” Thompson, 88, of College Park passed away March 25, 2019. He was born on October 29, 1930 in Palmetto, Georgia to the late John William and Ruby Thompson, Sr. He was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church.

Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Thompson in 2010; son, James Kenneth Thompson; grandson, Steven Matthew Borders; brother, John William Thompson, Jr.; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Thompson; daughter, Vicki (Steve) Borders; daughter-in-law, Visa Thompson; step-daughter, Carolyn Bailey; grandchildren, Leah Kearns, Kimberly Borders (Jim) McNair, Shane Hart, Lynn (Rick) Soltis, Melissa Logan Borders, Haley Borders (Andy) Brown, Abbey Thompson (Clint) Swymer; and Aron (Brittany) Thompson; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Fredrick (Patricia) Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2019 in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Reverend Paul Carder officiating. Burial will follow the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the funeral home.
