Our staff is committed to providing support, compassion, information, and direction as needed to all members of our community, their families, and friends who are dealing with loss and grief.



At Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service our staff is our greatest asset. They have over 300 years of combined service helping families. From working funerals to filing paperwork to keeping the grounds maintained, our staff goes beyond the call of duty.
Our funeral directors have been serving families for many years. C.J. Mowell, Jr. started Carl J Mowell & Son Funeral Home with his father, Carl Mowell Sr., in 1964. Before that he worked at funeral homes in East Point and Newnan. W. Bee Huddleston, a native of Fayette County, has been working with us for at least 50 years. David Mowell was raised upstairs at the funeral home in Fayetteville and has been working full time since 1993. Chris Cumbie, who also has roots here in Fayette County and been in the funeral business for almost 25 years, has worked for Mowell for over 15 years. Clint Gilpin is one of our licensed funeral directors as well as Todd Sinkus who bring over 25 years of combined funeral service to our staff. Ron Lee is our Preneed Counselor, ready to assist you in planning for your future. John Christopher is our AfterCare Coordinator, focusing on families as they take the necessary steps after the funeral.
Our support staff includes JoAnn Wilson, Pattie Elliott, Karen Harper, Jeff Kilgore, Ron Teat, Tommy Carroll, Lawrence Jacobs, Ray Phillips, and Charlie Boyle.
Faye Mowell, April Mowell, Devy Kleppinger, Alexis Rosado, Isabelle Hjemvick and Gina Gray handle all the administrative and office needs. All these men and women help us take care of the needs of each family.
Our staff is made up of people from our community. They belong to local churches and organizations, shop at local stores, have children who attend our local schools, and they are all here to help meet the needs of the families we serve.



















CJ Mowell, Jr.

CJ Mowell, Jr. is the President and Founder of Carl J Mowell & Son Funeral Home. He is married to Faye and has four children, Beth, Ferrell, David, and Becky, who passed away in 2010. CJ is also grandfather to Rebecca, Madeline, Griffin, Anna Grace, Blake, Jackson, John-Michael, Abibeth, Zane, Mikaela, Genevieve, Harrison, Grayson, and Macie Rose, and great-grandfather to Mason and Addison. CJ graduated from the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science (1961). He opened the funeral home with his father, Reverend CJ Mowell, and with the support of friend Ed Davis, in 1964. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1962 and also served as the Fayette County Coroner for 50 years, retiring in March of 2016. CJ was the past President of National Selected Morticians/Selected Independent Funeral Homes, Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia. He is a member of the Fayette County Masonic Lodge 711, the Yaarab Temple, and Fayetteville First Baptist Church. CJ is an avid collector of toy trains and clocks.
Faye Mowell

Faye Mowell is the Co-Founder of Mowell Funeral Home. She grew up in College Park, Georgia, where after graduating from high school, she worked for the government. In 1963, she married CJ Mowell. They moved 3 times in their first year of marriage, settling in Fayette County in 1964, where they founded Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home. Faye was the only assistant in the funeral home office for many years while raising their 4 children, Becky, Beth, Ferrell, and David. She now has 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She has been an active member of our community and Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
David J. Mowell

David J. Mowell is the President of Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service. He is married to April and has 3 children, Harrison, Grayson and Macie Rose. Along with being a licensed funeral director and embalmer, David served as a Fayette County Deputy Coroner for 20 years. David was born and raised in Fayetteville and is a graduate of Fayette County High School (1989), the University of Georgia (1993), and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science (1996). David is a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church and active in local area sports as a volunteer, and enjoys movies, college football, and 80’s pop culture.
April Mowell

April Mowell is the Accountant for Mowell Funeral Home. She joined the Mowell family when she married David in 1996. Together, they have 3 children: Harrison, Grayson, and Macie.
W. Bee Huddleston

W. Bee Huddleston has been with Mowell Funeral Home since its beginning in 1964. He is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and is currently the Coroner for Fayette County, after being a Deputy Coroner for over 30 years. He grew up in Fayette County, graduating from Fayette County High School (1964) and the Cincinatti College of Embalming. Bee is married to Connie. He is father to Kara (Michael) and Daniel (Kiley), and “Bee Bop” to Anna, Emily, Ellie, Denver, and Coralie. Bee is a member of Woolsey Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Masonic Lodge 711, and the Yaarab Temple.
Chris Cumbie

Chris Cumbie serves as the Manager of Mowell Funeral Home, as well as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He is married to Lora, and has 6 children, Cathy, Carolyn, Rebecca, Matthew, Anna, and Emma. Chris served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Forest Park Senior High School (1988) and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science (1998). He worked in various funeral homes in the state of Georgia before coming to Mowell in 2005. Chris has always had a deep desire to serve others in their time of need. He is a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church of Jonesboro.
Clint Gilpin

Clint Gilpin joined Mowell in October 2019. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School (2003) in Tyrone, GA and Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science (2013) in Decatur, GA. Clint is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Clint has always had a deep desire to serve others in their time of need. Outside of work he enjoys music, movies and sports. He is married to Jennifer and they have 3 kids.
Todd Sinkus

Todd Sinkus is a licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Certified Cremation Specialist. He was born in New Orleans and has fond memories of the food, Mardi Gras, and the New Orleans Saints. He grew up in Newnan since the age of 8 and graduated from East Coweta High in 1993. He served 6 years in the US Navy honorably while attaining his degree in Biochemistry at ODU in Virginia. While in Virginia, he became a licensed basic diver and basic pilot. After serving his country in the US Navy, he moved back home to be with his family in 2001. He graduated Gupton Jones Mortuary School in 2002. He was lucky enough to meet his blushing bride and married her and was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Savannah Belle and Scarlett Rose. Todd enjoys spending time with his girls, golfing, and family time.
Ron Lee

Ron Lee is licensed as a pre-need sales counselor and licensed life insurance sales person for the State of Georgia. He joined the Mowell staff in May 2016. He was previously a funeral director and pre-need counselor for a combined 38 years in Texas, Missouri, Illinois and Louisiana. Ron is married to Rebecca and has 4 children Sarah, Ryan, Suzie, and Ben. He is also a grandfather to Grady, Alaynna, Everett, Noah, and Kendall. He graduated from Atlanta High School (1979) and Texas A&M University (1982). Ron has a desire to help families before, during, and after a loss. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
John Christopher

John Christopher serves as our After Care Coordinator. He came to Mowell Funeral Home in 2014, after 27 years of service for Delta Airlines. John is married to Cindy, has 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren. He is a lay pastor at Pinecrest Church in Fayetteville.
Devy Kleppinger

Devy Kleppinger serves as the Bookkeeper for Mowell Funeral Home. She has been with Mowell since 2012. Devy is married to Ed and they have 5 children.
Gina Gray

Gina Gray is the Office Administrator. She has been with Mowell Since 2019. She is a Georgia native and currently resides in Pike County with her husband, Scott. They have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren.
Alexis Rosado

Alexis Rosado has been an Administrative Assistant with Mowell Funeral Home since December 2020. She is a Miami, Florida native and has been a Georgia resident for over six years. She resides in Griffin with her husband, Clayton, and their three "fur children."
Dawn Dickson

Dawn Dickson started working at Mowell Funeral Home September 2016 as an Administrative Assistant. She is a Fayette County native and married for 36 years to her high school sweetheart, Richard. They have two daughters and three grandsons and reside in Brooks, Georgia.
Tommy Carroll

Paul Tommy Carroll has been a member of our support staff since 2015. He was in business as a Master Plumber for 42 years. Tommy was raised in Clayton County, but moved to Fayetteville over 40 years ago. He is married to Carol. They have 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Pattie Elliott

Pattie has been a part of the support staff since the beginning of 2019. She lived in East Point, GA until 2004 before moving to Coweta County. She has two children and four awesome grandchildren.
Lawrence Jacobs

Lawrence Jacobs has been a part of our support staff for over 5 years. Before working for Mowell, he was an Electrical Contractor. He is married to Ann. They have 2 sons, a daughter and son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Ray Phillips

Ray Phillips is a member of our support staff. He is an Alabama native, but has lived in the Atlanta area for over 55 years. He is married to Rose and they just celebrated their 50thanniversary. They have 1 daughter and 3 grandchildren. In his spare time, Ray enjoys sand art.
